Composite bonding in Glenrothes

Refine shape while respecting healthy tooth tissue.

Composite bonding uses tooth-coloured material to make selected changes to tooth shape. Suitability depends on oral health, bite and the result you want.

Care, made clearer

A conservative option for selected smile concerns

Bonding may help repair small chips, refine worn edges, alter proportions or reduce the appearance of selected spaces. Material is shaped directly on the tooth and then polished.
It is not the correct answer for every case. Alignment, whitening, restorative care or no treatment may be more appropriate. We assess the bite and explain staining, chipping, maintenance and replacement needs before you decide.
Clinical noteAll treatment is subject to assessment. Results, suitability and timescales vary from person to person.

What matters

Thoughtful care at every stage.

01

Minimal preparation

Many additive bonding cases require little or no removal of healthy enamel, although every case differs.
02

Shape and edge repair

Composite can be carefully layered to restore selected chips, worn edges or proportions.
03

Colour planning

Whitening, if desired and suitable, is usually considered before the final composite shade is selected.
04

Maintenance explained

Bonding can stain, wear or chip and may need polishing, repair or replacement over time.

Useful answers

Frequently asked questions.

01Is composite bonding permanent?
No. Composite can wear, stain or chip and may need maintenance, repair or replacement. Longevity varies with bite, habits, care and the size of the restoration.
02Does bonding damage teeth?
Many additive cases use little or no tooth preparation, but this cannot be promised for every tooth. Your dentist will explain exactly what is proposed before consent.
03Should I whiten before composite bonding?
If you want whiter teeth and are suitable, whitening is often considered first because composite does not whiten later. The final shade can then be matched to the lighter teeth.
04How much is composite bonding?
The fee depends on the number of teeth and complexity. Current private fees start from £575 per tooth; a written estimate is provided after assessment.
