Accessibility
This site is built to be usable with a keyboard, a screen reader, at any zoom level, and on any screen size. Here is exactly what we test and what we do not.

Accessibility
Our conformance claim
This website is fully conformant with WCAG 2.2 level AA, as far as automated and manual testing can establish.
We say “as far as testing can establish” deliberately. Automated tools catch roughly a third of accessibility problems. The rest need a person. We tell you below which parts have had that person.

How we test
Accessibility is checked automatically on every build. If a check fails, the site does not publish. That is a build rule, not a policy statement.
axe-core against every page, at 390px and 1280px wide, tagged to WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 at levels A and AA.
A keyboard focus sweep on every page. We tab through every focusable element and check that nothing is hidden behind a fixed element when it receives focus. That is WCAG 2.2 success criterion 2.4.11, and automated tools do not detect it.
Contrast is computed, not eyeballed. Every text colour against every background it sits on. The lowest ratio anywhere in the design is on a non-text border.
Tap targets are at least 24 by 24 pixels, and main buttons at least 44 by 44.
Body text is at least 17 pixels on a phone, and the page works at 200% zoom without horizontal scrolling.

Design choices that came from this
The header does not stick to the top of the screen. A sticky header is the usual way a site covers the element you have just tabbed to.
The site sends no JavaScript. Everything works with scripts turned off, including the emergency page.
Animation respects your system setting. If you have asked your device to reduce motion, nothing here moves.
No pop-ups, no chat widget, no carousel, and no dialog that opens on its own.
No cookie banner, because there are no cookies and no tracking to consent to.

What we have not verified
Being straight about the limits is part of the claim.
Screen reader testing is not yet complete across every page. We test the structure automatically, but hearing a page read aloud catches things a machine does not.
We have not run testing with disabled users. Automated checks and our own keyboard testing are not a substitute for that, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
Plain English is a target, not a guarantee. We aim for a reading age of 9 to 11, and higher only where a clinical term genuinely has no plain equivalent. Some regulatory wording is fixed by law and cannot be simplified.
Links to other organisations — the NHS, the GDC, the ICO — are outside our control and we cannot claim anything about them.

If something does not work for you
Tell us and we will fix it. Please say what page you were on and what happened — that is usually enough for us to find it.
If you need information from this site in another format — large print, or read to you over the phone — just ask. There is no process for it, and we will not ask you why.

Getting into the building
This page is about the website. The practice itself has step-free access, wheelchair access and an adapted toilet.

If we do not resolve it
If you are not happy with how we respond, you can use our complaints procedure. The Equality Advisory and Support Service also gives free advice on disability discrimination in the UK.
